Australian bands have definitely started to make a name for themselves in the UK over the past few years. This is especially true in Brighton with Australia becoming a lead country partner with The Great Escape Festival and the likes of Dune Rats, Skegss and The Chats playing here on their tours.
Amyl and the Sniffers just add to the list of exciting upcoming bands from Australia, and it shows as they were about to play to a completely packed Haunt. Their love for the mullet instantly makes you wonder what sort of show you have gone to, but their punk rock sound and energetic stage presence means they deliver a show bursting with character.
From the first song 'Go Fuck Yourself', you can tell that Amyl and the Sniffers have made a name for themselves through their live performances. Mosh pits form almost instantly and it almost turns into a riot with Amy Taylor only getting through a few songs before she is swallow diving off the stage onto the crowd. Highlights of the show were their latest single 'Monsoon Rock' and their hit 'I'm Not A Loser' which just show why they are receiving such praise.
As live performances go, they definitely deliver, and you can tell that all the music they record is designed to cause utter mayhem at a live event. I leave the venue bruised and with my ears ringing but I could not have enjoyed myself more. They certainly know how to deliver a quality punk-rock performance and if you can get down to see them, then you will not be disappointed.
