Live Review: Lady Bird + Supports @ The Forum, Tunbridge Wells (27/3/19)

We were lucky enough to catch Lady Bird playback in their home town at Tunbridge Wells Forum 2 weeks ago, on their completely sold out March/April tour.

GURU and Witch Fever kicked off the night getting a real reaction from the crowd with their current politically heavy songs. Taking on topics in a similar vain to Lady Bird. By this point, the venue was rammed with an electric feel about what was about to commence.

Can’t Stand Me Now by The Libertines was the final song played before the Kent 3-piece took to the stage, this got nearly everyone in the crowd singing along which had the little venue rocking and set the tone for the evening. Lady Bird kick off their set with Social Potion, Leave Me Alone and an incredible rendition of Boot Fillers (shown below)

Lady Bird frontman Don Lennols continually broke down into general conversation with the audience discussing all topics. From his Mum’s former boyfriends all the way to the importance of irradicating all sexual assault, especially at gigs. Lennols’ Mother was present in the crowd this evening who the conversation was often directed at. By this point, his mum was heavily involved in the mosh pits. A polite reminder was provided by Lennols to ‘Mosh Considerately not sensibly, there’s a big difference’.

It wasn’t long into the set before the band set on new material by informing the crowd they were going to ‘bang out some new ones’. The new tracks are exactly what we have come to expect, to the point, tongue and cheek & with brilliant lyrics. If you get the chance, see this band, you will have no regrets.
