Having supported the likes of YONAKA, King Nun and The Wombats, Valeras were finally out on their first UK headline tour. We caught them on the very first night at the Latest Music Bar in Brighton.
We arrived just in time to see the second support band The Keep Cats. Their lo-fi punk style was well rehearsed and was sounding great, especially the vocals. They also looked extremely comfortable on stage, and every member was energetic throughout the set. Their music and performance is certainly a crowd pleaser, with music you can definitely dance along to and they were an excellent warm up for Valeras.
It was then time for the highly anticipated Valeras. With this being the first night of their first ever UK tour, it wouldn't be rare for the band to seem static and nervous on stage, but they were far from this. You could see the band clearly love playing live, and they were natural on stage. Frontwoman Rose's vocals were mesmerising and captivating throughout and you could see how their melodic pop-rock style had got a big turnout. Their music is full of catchy guitar hooks and pounding drum beats. If they somehow get better as they go through their tour, then the future audiences are in for a real treat as they are sounding excellent from show 1.
